They were wrong. The new Department of Justice said this weekend it’s still going ahead, and Google will be sacrificed.
The first reason has had the most coverage. Republicans believe Big Tech leans Left and silences Right-wing voices. Breaking them up makes them easier to manipulate.
The second, though less reported, is the real reason: Google’s become a shitty investment for the super-rich.
When the 0.001 per cent casually lob a few million into GOOG today, they get back a measly 14 per cent return.
