The Department of Justice first proved Google ran an illegal monopoly in the $200 billion search market. It’s now gone public with the penalties it wants.

They’re comprehensive, and have the potential to kill AI Overviews, reset copyright for the AI era, and reveal the top secret algos that run Google’s search.

It’s without doubt the most comprehensive threat ever to the company that symbolises Big Tech’s relentless rise and launched the tag frenemy.

For publishers, it’s a window to reset the tone and economics of premium content, save the open web, and start work on delivering trustworthy AI for the future.
