Good morning. I had a big response over the holidays to my interview with the architects of South Africa’s negotiated truce with Google and other tech platforms.

It’s given me a sense that the year ahead will be one of deals, fuelled by AI, FOMO and a (late) realisation that premium content delivers premium AI outcomes. 🤞

Its why an AI content licensing market is emerging, and anchored by tougher regulations, fines and stiffening laws around copyright and consumer data.

This will challenge traditional media models, and many publishers will struggle to adapt. I’m going to be on that journey with you.

That starts today as I’m sharing how Denmark is tackling it, with 99 per cent of its media organisations banding together in an innovative media collective.

And with Denmark currently chairing the EU, it’s being watched closely by Europe’s 27 nation states as a potential model for them too.
